Search for the successor to a retiring Financial Director

When the long-time Finance Director of a successful, pan-European dairy food supplier retired, Seymour John was asked to find a successor.

The Challenge

With a newly appointed Managing Director only recently relocated from Europe and beginning to get to grips with the business, it was important we found someone who could hit the ground running. As a privately owned, people-focused business with a particular and clearly defined culture, the right cultural fit would be key to ensuring a smooth transition during significant leadership change.

The Solution

With over 20 years’ focused regional experience, the lead consultant knew the ideal candidate immediately. That same experience was utilised to full effect when it came to the delicate art of selling the opportunity and negotiating an offer.

The Result

While our headhunted candidate accepted, they had to work out a long notice period. The client was thrilled that we could place a strong interim Financial Controller to cover month-end in the meantime. The new FD is now firmly established in the business, making the role their own and having a positive impact on the business.
